Y'all there has been some serious organization going on in this house the past couple of days. I'm not sure what has taken over me, but I'm sure glad to have been bitten by this bug! This house has needed an overhaul for a while now. To be honest, there is a closet full of boxes that have been sitting there since July (when we moved in), untouched. I'm tempted to throw them all out in the trash, as I can't imagine I'd miss anything...but the sentimental side of me wins and I feel the need to at least go through the junk before throwing it away. Besides, there might be something important in there that I just didn't realize I was missing!
For some reason I've been taken over by organization by color instead of other typical ways I'd organize. I've lovingly decided to call it, Project Organization: Rainbows. haha. For example, forever and always I've organized the books on my bookshelf by subject matter, then height. We finally bought a new bookshelf, so all the books in boxes could have a home and I decided to do something different. This was the result:
It took a while for my OCD to settle, but then I realized that it's STILL in order, just a different kind of order! And I love it! Unfortunately, I still need another shelf to accommodate all the books in my life, but this one covers pretty much all of them with the exception of textbooks from grad school that I want to keep and books I need for teaching.
But, it didn't stop there. I did the same thing with my clothes in my closet. They're now organized by color instead of sleeve-length. I like it much better because sorting my sleeve-length is exhausting. You wouldn't think so, but there are so many different lengths and seeing which one is slightly longer than the other? Yeah, well, I'm sure you get the picture.
I'm still nowhere near completed with the organization projects in the house, but these are definitely a start. And unfortunately, I don't think there are any other things in the house to organize by color, so I'll have to find other ways of organizing things, but hopefully I can think of some creative things to do.
What are some ways that you organize your home? What's your number one organization tip?

Clearly all the Q nesting that's going on or is about to be going on has rubbed off on you! I've been going crazy with the cleaning and organizing lately too. Just trying to get mine & Mark's old bedroom cleared out... I'm just about to the point that I have to get the new one cleared out again before I can get any more done on the old one - blah!
